Job Title: Material Handler
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Department: Material Handling/Shipping/Receiving
Classification :Hourly Non-Exempt
Schedule: T-F, 1:00PM - 9:00PM and Saturday's 6AM - 2PM
Wage: $18 hourly starting
Objective: Assists the Shipping and Receiving Department by filling various positions as needed. Possible positions to work include: Shipping Associate, Receiving Associate and Material Handler.
Ø Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock and product priority.
Ø Follows document control guidelines for all food safety records (e. g., no white-out usage, drawing single lines through items being deleted or corrected, etc.)
Ø Receives requests from the production manager and line leaders on materials needed.
Ø Prioritizes materials requested.
Ø Pulls stored materials for orders and moves to production area in exact quantities.
Ø Supplies work areas with materials in a timely manner.
Ø May perform receiving, stocking and distributing. Maintains inventory records and prepares reports.
Ø Uses an electric powered forklift and pallet jack to load and unload, move or stack materials or products.
Ø Maintains a clean and safe environment in all warehouses and areas in production.
Ø Responsible for maintaining an organized staging area for all finished preps in the cooler and in the production room.
Ø Responsible for tracking and using left over preps in an organized and timely manner.
Ø Responsible for tracking and disposing of bad/unusable product from the cooler and warehouse.
Ø Responsible for maintaining the bad pallets stacks and picking up stray broken pallets.
Ø Responsible for FIFO rotation of all product in the cooler and ingredient warehouse.
Ø Responsible for informing maintenance/manager of problems with any machinery used in the day to day performance of the job.
Ø Stacks or piles materials in a safe manner at the specified locations.
Ø Consults with the Shipping and Receiving Manager to determine overdue material and to inform of inventory status.
Ø Follows GMP and HACCP guidelines, personal practices/personal processing practices while on the production floor.
Ø Basic computer skills with MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
Ø Read and write simple email correspondences, memos, and labels
Ø Read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions
Ø Add, subtract, multiply and divide
Ø Operate a stand up double deep high reach truck and pallet jack efficiently – will train if necessary
Ø Lift 50+ pounds
Ø Detailed oriented and accurate
Ø To work in a –10 degree environment
