Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager will be responsible for improving operational effectiveness throughout the Sweetmore Bakery network. This role will partner with local plant management at each bakery to build a continuous improvement culture. Success in this position requires the development of collaborative relationships and delivery of measurable results (cost, throughput and capacity) utilizing Lean principles projects. The CI Manager will focus on process improvements in the area of Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity and Cost. This position requires an ability to work at all levels within the organization.

What you'll do

Introduce Lean Manufacturing concepts to the manufacturing facility and support the management team with hands-on implementation

• Support production by identifying and eliminating process limitations, waste and bottlenecks

• Determine best practices and define standard work

• Lead Kaizen events in areas of 5S, TPM, Standard Work, Set-up Reduction/SMED, etc.

• Drive continuous improvement and problem solving in the manufacturing environment.

• Engage with applicable departments on a routine basis to stay informed of issues faced and subsequently resolve them

• Utilize continuous improvement tools and lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities and successfully implement solutions that improve OEE

• Coach/educate plant on OEE tracking and other operational metrics

• Create data gathering plan and/or leverage available data in order to identify and quantify improvement opportunities (ROIs, etc.)

• Serve as continuous improvement mentor for all employees within the Sweetmore Bakery network.

• Conduct process mapping exercises to define/optimize processes, aid in documenting standard work, and train impacted personnel

• Optimize work areas and process efficiencies.

• Create/share best practices across the bakeries regarding consistent metrics, goals, programs, policies, processes, etc.

• Drive capital expenditure investments with a focus on capacity planning and cost reduction.

• Influence skills and strong experience in change management

• Project management skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering required

• 5+ years proven experience in an implementation role of CI projects in a manufacturing environment

• Strong leadership skills are a must
